Each data submission is subject to over one hundred automated ‘expert system’ software checks to validate its ‘internal’ consistency.
All discrepancies are queried with the participant until we are satisfied that all the data is suitable for adding to the databank and making available to other operators.
Certain data is also checked manually, particularly for any well which appears to be exceptionally fast, slow, cheap or expensive or falls outside the norms in any other way.
Whilst technical and time data can normally be relied upon to be precise, differing accounting practices between operators mean that cost data is subject to a margin of error, perhaps plus or minus 15% and should be treated with some caution.
Certain data is also checked, where possible, against that available from publicly available sources as well as other operators.
